Caterpillar machinery featured in James Bond film

Caterpillar Inc. will star alongside Daniel Craig in the upcoming James Bond film “Skyfall,” which is due in theaters on Nov. 9.

According to Bond23.net, a website devoted to the movie, a Caterpillar  excavator was filmed on the movie set in Turkey. In the sequence, Daniel Craig is seen operating the yellow machine, which is balanced on a train hurtling down the tracks.

In a press release, Caterpillar Global Brand Marketing Manager Diane Lantz-Rickard is quoted as saying this isn’t the first time a Caterpillar product has been featured in a film.

“Our brand has been featured in more than 20 movies dating as far back as 1927, and we worked with the Bond films previously in (the 1999 film) ‘The World is Not Enough,’” the statement reads.

“Skyfall” is the 23rd installment of the secret agent franchise, and critics are already praising the film. After a reviewer screening in London, reviewer Robbie Collin was quoted as saying in the Vancouver Sun: “(Director Sam) Mendes is unafraid to let the quieter dramatic moments breathe ... and ace cinematographer Roger Deakins makes the wildly ambitious action sequences the most beautiful in Bond’s 50-year career.”
